Grace Riley Obituary

Hingham Grace M. (Anderson) Riley, resident for the past 64 years, died at the Harbor House Nursing Facility in Hingham on February 22nd, 2008 after a long illness. Daughter of the late Oscar and Clara Anderson, she was born in Boston, raised in Wollaston and graduated from Quincy High School. She attended business school and was employed as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker in Hingham, where she and her beloved late husband, John Riley, raised their five children. Grace is survived by her two sons; Jack Riley and Michael Riley both of Hingham, and three daughters; Peggy Johnston of Thousand Oaks, CA, Veronica Thompson of Norwood and Mary Ann Riley of Pembroke. She was the sister of Walter Anderson of Florida and the late Arthur Anderson and the late Agnes Payne. In addition, she was the loving grandmother of eight and great grandmother of nine. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Grace's love of her family, devotion to God, and generosity of self were the hallmark of her long and faithful life. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 28th at 10 a.m at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square. Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
