Melinda Roach
RUTHERFORDTON, NC-- Mrs. Melinda McBrayer Roach, age 51 of 117 Brightmore Court, Rutherfordton died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. A native of Forest City, she was a daughter of Eddie McBrayer of Forest City and the late Crystelle Capps McBrayer who died in July of 2007. She taught second grade at Rutherfordton Elementary School for over twenty years; a 1974 graduate of East Rutherford High School, attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and later transferred to Radford University, Radford, VA where she received her Bachelor of Science degree; and was recently awarded Teacher of the Year for Rutherford County Schools.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband Timothy S. Roach, Sr., of the home; two sons, Timothy Scott Roach, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, and Stuart Andrew Roach of Boone, NC; a daughter, Erin Roach Scruggs and husband Wesley of Charlotte, NC; and a sister, Sharon McBrayer of Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of Forest City with Reverend Tonya Hill officiating. Interment will be private for the family in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will immediately follow the service in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton, 264 North Main Street, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 or First Baptist Church of Forest City, 211 West Main Street, Forest City, NC 28043.
