Giuseppe Mastroluca Obituary
Giuseppe "Joe" Mastroluca, 85, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 12, 2016. He was born in Scauri, Italy on August 27, 1931 to the late Francesco and Annunziata Conte Mastroluca.
Joe met his future bride on the Andrea Doria on an April voyage in 1956 on their way to America for a new life. Joe was a former employee with Anthony Romano Construction as a Master Stone Mason. Joe served in the Italian Army. He was also a Member of the Minturnese Social Club and a forty year member of the Local 1 International Union Bricklayers. He was very proud of his garden, jarring his tomatoes and his wine and soppressata making. He enjoyed his pets, raising chickens and rabbits, as well as taking great pride growing fruit trees. But what Joe enjoyed the most was being surrounded by his loving family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife to whom he would have been married sixty years on December 1st, Maria Pimpinella Mastroluca of Stamford, his loving children, Nancy Cammisa and her husband Mark, Rosanna Battinelli and her husband Michael, Marylena Antonelli and her husband Nino, Frank Mastroluca and his wife Julianne and Michael Mastroluca and his wife Irene, grandchildren, Frank, Christina and her husband Maurice and Danielle Cammisa, Michele, Laura, Mikey and Joey Battinelli, JohnPaul and Marc Antonelli, Joseph, Anthony and Olivia Mastroluca, Fernanda, Felipe and Gabriella Mastroluca, as well as his sisters Carolina Fedele of Minturno, Italy and Antonietta Macera of Mississauga, Canada.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister, Concetta Ciufo of Minturno, Italy.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 9:50 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St John's Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 16,2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Joe's memory to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale, Office of Development, Yale New Haven Hospital , P.O Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508-9979 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
The Mastroluca family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Anthony Kim, Thoracic Surgeon at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Stamford Hospital, especially Hospitalist, Dr. Alfred Bircaj and Clifford Clarke from Daniel Care for the care that Joe received.
