Randy Williams Obituary

Williams, Randy A.
Randy Anna (Swanson) Williams, 95, of Stamford was called home to eternal life by her Lord on Saturday, February 23, surrounded with love by her family.
Born in 1917 in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Anna (Bengtsson) Swanson, she moved to Sweden as an infant where she lived in the town of Vårberg until moving to Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 11. A graduate of Commerce High School in Brooklyn, she married her childhood sweetheart, Witmer, in 1942. They were long time residents of President Street, Park Slope, in Brooklyn. In 1962, the family moved to Scarsdale where Randy worked in real estate, particularly at Reid and Herrmann. She retired "early" at the age of 85 and moved to Stamford where she continued her very active life. She was an excellent Swedish cook and enjoyed keeping up with friends, spending time at Cape Cod in the summer with relatives, playing cards, volunteering at St. John's Lutheran Church and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Randy was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Anders Swanson; her husband, Witmer Williams, and daughter-in-law, Patricia (Curtis) Williams. She is survived by her two children, Clark Williams, Scarsdale, New York and Janet (Ken) Segerdell of Stamford, Connecticut; four grandchildren including Katherine (Jeff) Behring of Elm Grove, Wisconsin; Carolyn Segerdell of West Hartford, Connecticut; Randy Williams of Yonkers, New York and David Williams, currently serving in the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jacob Behring.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Tuesday February 26, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday February 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM followed by a luncheon. The Rev. William Kroeze and Rev. Edwin Larson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, Randy's family asks that all donations be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905 to the memorial fund in her name.
