Carol Bunde Obituary

Carol Ann (Malheim) 61, of 20 Upper Clark Avenue, Van Etten, died February 7, 2002 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous eight year battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father, Trond O. Malheim and her brother, Alan Malheim. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rev. Jack F. Bunde, Chaplain of Corning Hospital, her daughters: Elizabeth Bunde, Jennifer Bunde, and Linda Bunde-Stafford (Jim Stafford); her mother, Lillian Malheim, Spencer; brother, Floyd R. Malheim (Jeanne Malheim), Sundance, WY; nieces; Heidi Malheim, Sundance, WY and Maureen Adams, Bel Fouche, SD; grandchildren; Brittany Bunde and Tristen Stafford, and other relatives and many friends. She was born in Waukegan, IL on April 3, 1940. She attened Carthage College in Carthage, IL. She graduated from Elmira College with a BS. in Elementary Education summa cum laude in 1980. Carol was a long term substitute teacher in elementary and music classes within the Spencer-Van Etten School District. She was the organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Spencer, NY during most of the years of her husband's pastorate from 1975 to 2000. Carol was a gentle and loving person, always with a kind word for others and putting their needs in front of her own. She loved music and working with children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, the strength in her family. Her presence will be missed. Friends may call at the Allen-Manzer Funeral Home in Spencer, on Saturday, February 9, 2002 from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmira on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at 3 PM with Rev. Joseph B. Cotner officiating. Spring interment will be at Canfield Memorial Cemetery, Van Etten, NY. Memorials may be directed to: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 314 West Church Steet, Elmira NY, 14901 or Pastoral Care Fund, Corning Hospital, 176 Denison Parkway East, Corning, NY 14830.
