Francis McDonald Obituary

McDonald, Francis A. "Saucer"

A longtime resident of Southport, passed away Mon. July 22, 2013 after living a long and happy life at the age of 89.

Born on March 8, 1924 in Nanty Glo, PA, Francis was the son of the late, Francis & Martha Dickinson McDonald. In service to his country he was a proud Army Veteran having served during WWII. Francis married Margaret Hintz on May 17, 1947 in Vestal; He was employed by Kennedy Valve for over 44 years. Family always came first. Francis was a talented carpenter and stone mason and took great pride in building his family home. Always willing to help others, he freely gave of his time to build garages, wishing wells and help with general construction projects. Francis was also an outdoors man who enjoyed hunting.

Surviving is his loving family,wife and companion, Margaret Hintz McDonald, Southport; children, Jacqueline Scarpi, Pine City; Raymond McDonald, Tonawanda; Tom McDonald, Wellsburg; John (Jerri) McDonald, Wellsburg; grandchildren, Chad (Lisa) McDonald, Travis (Jessica Rice) McDonald, and Troy McDonald; great grandchildren, Tachia and Cody; brother, Bill (Marge) McDonald, Elmira; sister-in-law, Mary Jane McDonald, Elmira; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Francis was predeceased by sisters, Ruth (Charles) Veina; Gail (John "Jack') Watts; brother, Robert McDonald; son-in-law, John Scarpi and great granddaughter, Sierra Skyler McDonald.

All services will be handled privately at the families convenience with burial in Sts. Peter & Paul's Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded Mr. McDonald.

Family and friends are invited to Celebrate Francis's life at the Pine City Vol. Fire Dept. on Thur. July 25, 2013 from 2:30-5:30 PM.
