Stanley Stone Obituary

Stone, Stanley M. Stanley Malcolm Stone of St. Louis, Missouri, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016. He was born in St. Louis Sept. 17, 1926 to Jack and Rose Stone and lived his entire adult life in Clayton. He was married for 64 years to the late Donna Rothman Stone . He spent his last day surrounded by family with golf on the television, just as he would have wanted it. Stan was a charismatic man who enjoyed his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and golf. There was nowhere he was more comfortable than on a golf course and was a member of Meadowbrook Country Club for 40 years and was Club Champion in 1973 & 1974. Stan served in the US Navy during WWII and graduated from St. Louis University. Along with his late father, Jack J. Stone, he built Stone Distributing Co. into a successful business from the 1950's through the 1970's. After selling the business, he became Business Development Officer with First Bank until his retirement. Stan was the loving and proud father of the late Vicki (Tom) Olt of Austin, TX, Jim (Kathy) Stone of Southampton, NY and David (Laura) Stone of Chicago, IL and brother to the late Elsie Kaden of Chicago, IL . He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica (Josh) Epstein, Jason (Wendy) Olt, Elizabeth Stone (Jonathan Marcus), Sara Stone, Michael Stone and Emily Stone, and his great grandchildren Grayson & James Epstein, Charlie & Dylan Olt and Ellie Marcus. Services: Graveside service Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at United Hebrew Cemetery, 7855 Canton Ave., University City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations preferred in Stan's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY, 10163 or the Alzheimer's Association, 9370 Olive Blvd, 63132. In the early 70's, I was a young, inexperienced salesman calling on Stone Distributing. Stan and his father could not have been more patient, kind, and accepting.I was privileged to know them and will always be grateful for their generosity. Rest in peace my friend.
