William Stanton Obituary

Stanton, William F., 91, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Bill was born on April 6, 1917 in Bridgeport, IL and was a retired Lt. Colonel with the United States Army. During his 21 years of service, Bill served in Hawaii, Japan, Korea, as well as U.S. Embassy service in Europe. Bill met his future wife, Marion, who was serving in the American Red Cross, and they were married in 1950. He also served in the U.S. Civil Service in Washington DC for 5 years as well as the State of Florida with the Department of Education for 13 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marion; son, Nile; 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, 11:00am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church (2000 SE 25th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale). A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 12:30pm, Friday, in the AT Room of Atlantic Towers. Memorial mass and interment will be held at a later date at St. Agatha Catholic Church, Gagetown, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Gold Coast Hospice or Hospice of Southeast Florida, in Bill's name.
