Evelyn Bellus Obituary

Evelyn Price Bellus

April 19, 1936 - June 11, 2021

Evelyn Price Bellus, age 85, of Buellton, California, passed away in her home on Friday, June 11th, 2021. Evelyn was born in Marion, Ohio to Virgil and Anna Price on April 19th, 1936.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Bellus, her parents and two siblings, John and Kenneth Price.

She is survived by her current husband, John Wrabel; her daughter, Lana Gundrey of Buellton; her son, Kevin Bellus of Marion; her son in law, James Gundrey; grandsons Zachary and Christopher Gundrey, all of Buellton; and many loving nieces and nephews of Ohio and elsewhere.

Evelyn graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1954 where she was known for her lovely singing voice and musical talent. She played the French horn in the Marching and Concert Band, sang in the school choir and at Epworth Methodist Church in Marion for many years. She sang on the local radio station, WMRN, on a number of occasions as well. She was also a proud member of the National Honor Society.

Following High School, Evelyn attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1958. She sang solo in many recitals, while attending.

Upon graduating college, she immediately started teaching music for the Avon School District in Lorain County and later in the Middleburg Heights School System of Berea, Ohio. She married William Bellus of Strongsville, Ohio in 1959 and had two children, Lana and Kevin.

Later in life, she enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines in her hometown and volunteered at Marion General Hospital.

In 2014, she married John Wrabel with whom she had previously dated in college and was very fond of.

Evelyn cherished singing, playing piano, teaching music to others and her grandchildren, walking on the beach and feeding the seagulls, swimming and playing cards and games of all sorts. She took immense pleasure in gardening and her flowerbeds were always beautiful. She had many pets throughout her life and loved them all.

A graveside service will be held at the Marion Cemetery on Tuesday, June 29th, 2021, at 1:30 pm with reception immediately following in Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Evelyns name to your local Humane Society.

For Evelyn's Family. I met Evelyn when we were both walking at Marion Cemetery. She was so pleasant to talk to. I'm sorry to read she passed away, but equally glad I got to know her. We didn't really walk together, I would pass her mostly, and she would laugh because I always was a fast walker. She stopped to (as they say) "smell the roses". We laughed and talked and now I read she moved to California and I moved to Missouri. I send prayers for your loss of your mother. I see she had many talents and interests. I even know where the cemetery plot for her is. God Bless you all. Bye Evelyn.
