Elizabeth "Liz" Leigh Kelley

Tallahassee - Elizabeth "Liz" Leigh Kelley, 51, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away March 21, 2021. She was born April 17, 1969, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Clarence Leigh Kelley, Jr. and Janice McConnell Kelley Scott. She is survived by her mother of The Villages, Florida; her brother Clarence "Clay" Kelley, III of Clermont, Florida; aunt Joan McConnell Salter (Judson) of Opelika, Alabama; and nephews and cousins.

Elizabeth grew up in Lakeland, Florida. She graduated from Lakeland High School and attended Florida State University. She loved Tallahassee and began working for the State of Florida. She worked for over twenty years in several positions with the last one being Chief of Human Resource Management within the Department of Financial Services.

Elizabeth was an avid reader and enjoyed being with her friends. She is described by her friends and co-workers as being an inspiration to many people, being a good listener and storyteller, and being kind and caring.

Elizabeth will be buried alongside her maternal grandparents, Jesse R. and Mildred S. McConnell, at Garden Hills Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama. The graveside service for Elizabeth will be on May 8th, 2021, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers , please make donations to The Salvation Army.
