Steve, Zane and Annabelle, begin your new journey, huddled, move together, a bit more closely. Yes, you must hold each more tightly, because one is gone, for now. But, right in step with you, moves one of us. And, then, another...to be joined by, then, yet another. Not replacing the beloved one, who is deeply missed. Rather, taking on some of your load, propping you up, keeping you on your path, until, on your own, you find your step, at your own pace; and, then, we will keep moving, right along with you...close, never far away.
Yes, the away looks dark, and you can't see everything ahead of you. But, within you, and, from us, who encircle you, you have everything you need. It looks dark, it's new and different, but, it can be so beautiful.

I had the honor of working for many years with Sherri when she was my beat reporter at the Tribune reporting on children's issues. We shared a love of kids and youth advocacy. I remember her wonderful ethics in reporting and dedication to doing justice to these important subjects.
We talked about adoption and having kids later in life (as my precious girls are both adopted.) I remember how joyful she was when her children were born and how much Sheri loved being a mom. She was a true child advocate and a gentle, beautiful spirit. She chose to use her talent in writing to help children everywhere and I will always admire her. Sherri is deeply missed.
Rest in Peace my friend,
Carolyn Eastman
