Chase Brubaker Obituary

Chase Brubaker, 9, was struck and killed by a Walt Disney World bus while riding his bicycle near Fort Wilderness on Thursday, April 1, 2010. Chase was a third-grader at Bauder Elementary School in Largo.

"His teachers already called,'' his mother, Kelly Brubaker, 50, said as she fought back tears during a telephone conversation. "They said he was the best boy ever. We already knew that."

Kelly Brubaker and her husband, Dick, Chase and an 11-year-old neighbor were vacationing in a recreational vehicle at Fort Wilderness Resort when the incident occurred.

Today makes 5 years. I miss you Chase so much. I wish I could talk to you and play at school with you. I wish I could go back in time and spend more time hanging with you. I miss seeing your smiling face and hearing you laugh. You were my best friend. In 1st period this year I sometimes go to the fence and look at your grave. I even talk to you and pretend you talk back. The first time I went there I broke dwn and luckly I had friends that were there. The memorial is still so beautiful. I remember all the fun things we did at school together I even remember some of our conversations. I miss your jokes and when you told us story's. I love and miss you Chase.

I miss you so much Chase. I realized how lucky I was to spend each day with you, you're my best friend forever and always and I still think about you every day and every night. They took the Ace away an I cried because that was one of the last things I had to remember you, but I don't need a boat to remember You. You're always on my mind and I can't wait till we meet again I need to tell you so much! I miss you and you mean the world to me. I'll always remember you. I'll never forget your voice when I got home each day. I miss your smiling face. You brought the adventure in me alive. Dear Kelly and Dick,
As parents Deb and I can only imagine how much you both must miss your little Chase, for he left this world much too soon. But please hold on to all the fond memories of him for there were many. You both were such loving parents who showered so much love upon him that his cup was always overflowing on to everything he touched. I may not have been around much, but I did feel nothing but happiness for you and Dick having a son like Chase in your life and enjoyed hearing all the fun stories from my girls upon returning from the summer trips with Nana and Papa Burkett. Hang in there guys. Ive been through somthing similiar however it was my spouse. The loss of a child is so much more. So i know u feel a million times worse than what i had to work through. The only thing that helps some days is that you get to see him again one day in Heaven. Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Chase was an amazing kid; full of energy, and always smiling. My fondest memory of him was playing with the bake-a-bug toy in your kitchen. He educated me on which colors would look the best for my flying insect. That baked bug found its way to my refrigerator door that night, and has been there ever since. Kelly, Dick, Grama, Grampa, Bill & Amy,
I was going to write all the things that made Chase such a special little man to me, Brianna and Brielle but they say pictures are worth a thousand words so I decided to pull pictures from both of the girl`s cameras and what I found was pretty amazing. I posted and labeled the ones I thought showed his awesome personality. The one thing that ALWAYS stood out to me was that as much as our kids were always together, I never once saw Chase cry, argue or throw a fit like most young children do from time to time. Chase was an oddity in the BEST way. I know I speak for my daughters as well when I say that he touched our lives very deeply and we are better for knowing Chase the short time we all had him in our lives. Chase M. Brubaker will never be forgotten and will be thought of always as the young man that could make friends with ease and warm the coldest hearts.

Chase is an angel in heaven looking down and blessing you all during this painful time for your family.

What I remember most about him is how polite he was! He was a smart, genuine and friendly boy. My son will miss him very much as he was one of few he truly called a friend.
