Martin McNULTY Obituary

McNULTY, Martin Albert 74, of St. Petersburg, was called home to rest Jan. 20, 2013. Born May 2, 1938 in Owensboro, KY, he was the eldest of his 16 siblings. Marty is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Trudy (Hagan) of Bardstown, KY; his sons, Matthew (Stephanie) & Jacob (Dawn); and 4 grandchildren, Madeline Reisz, Jacob Boone, Coleman Alexander & Dylan Finn; 12 of his siblings, Rosemary Payne (William), John (Frankie Beth), Pat (Donna), Anna Ruth Lyon (Danny), Mike (Mary "Bennie"), Helen Shull (Mike), Martha Mancinelli (John), Rachel Higdon (Leon), William A. (Diana), Margie Jackson (Dave) Mary Ann Drexler (Steve), David (Renee). His is also survived by 12 Hagan in-laws; 68 nieces & nephews; and 60 great nieces &nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Martin & Anita; brothers, Dan & Jimmy; and sister, Jeanne. Marty served in the United States Army, then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in economics from Auburn University and his MBA from Memphis State University. He and Trudy left Tennessee for Key West where he was a teacher at Florida Keys Community College. They relocated to St. Petersburg in 1972, where he briefly attended Stetson Law School and continued teaching at St. Petersburg Junior College & Pasco-Hernando Community College. He went on to become a successful commercial real estate business broker owner of Best Business Brokers. A loyal friend to many, a humble patriarch to his immediate family and extended family tree, a funny & kind man who never missed the opportunity to pay someone a compliment (especially his wife). He was intelligent & curious, and true to his calling was always teaching those around him anything he could. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, art collecting, gardening and listening to his bluegrass & folk music. A celebration of Marty's life will take place Saturday, Jan. 26th, 12 pm at the St. Petersburg Garden Club (500 Sunset Drive South, St. Petersburg). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Brain Injury Association of Florida in memory of Martin McNulty.
