My heart is so saddened by Walter Mosley's passing... such a gifted artist. Talented, Kind and Sensitive. An artist friend referred me to Walter when I needed to create a website for my late husband, a leading actor and teacher in the USA. I had my ideas and he enhanced them with his skill and knowledge...we worked together for many months. He spoke always in a caring, clear voice. It was an emotional creation for me ...this website of a great theatrical artist I was married too -- my soulmate -- and Walter's sensitivity eliminated any conflict. His sense of professionalism and concern was such that though he was dying, (which I did not know until later), he left a message for me on my phone telling me to call the company handling my website.... he had contacted them and explained that he would no longer be able to host it. My first reaction was how amazing... here he was so ill but he took the time to call me, not an intimate friend but a client if you will, to make sure my website would be taken care of. What a mark of his outstanding character. Oh! Life is so sad when those people you love or in Walter's case those talents that touch you professionally, are taken from us.... I believe in the spiritual Universe, I believe in God and that all those we miss are safe, at Peace and at rest and and are with us evermore.

I was stunned to read the announcement of Walter's passing at the Art Students League. He was such a nice guy, so devoted to painting, so kind, with a wry sense of humor.
I am glad Walter lived his life as he wanted to, following his heart and always painting.
Rest in peace, Walter. Thanks for being exactly who you were.

I wanted to express my sincere condolences to your family. I worked with Walter as a monitor in Gregg Kruez's class for one year. And I knew him from studying with Tom Torak. He was always great to work with.
I really admired Walter when he left the League and worked as an artist on his own. I know how difficult that can be. He was a truly dedicated, professional artist.
I actually met his mother at the League on one of her visits. My grandparents had a farm in Forest, MS, so we had that connection.
God bless your family.

Though I knew Walter for a very short time, he affected me greatly. He was a dedicated, good artist and teacher and a lovely person. I am sorry I did not have more time with him.

His dedication to his art, to his students, and his kindness will be missed. The image of him bicycling all aroundbNYC in rain or shine, cold or heat, to capture his fine images of the city, will be an inspiration. My condolences to the family he loved.
