Patrick Monahan Obituary

It is with great sadness that the Monahan family announces the passing of Patrick Terry Monahan, age 71, on November 13, 2019 after prolonged illnesses caused by Agent Orange exposure during his service in the Vietnam War.
Terry was born on May 2, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Mary Eva McGinley and Daniel Emmett Monahan. He grew up in DuBois, Pa., and graduated from the DuBois Area Senior High School in 1966. While attending Penn State he chose to honor his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Following his tour of duty, he attended DuBois Business College under the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in accounting. He was employed as an accountant in both the retail and hotel industries.
Terry was happily married to his wife Penny for 49 years and was a devoted father to their son Michael. He not only loved music, chess and all sports, especially the Steelers, he also loved spending time with his brothers, Tom and Dan, his many cousins, In-laws, nieces and nephews. He was known by his friends and family as a gentle man who loved his family and many pets.
Terry is survived by his wife, Marion "Penny" (Matthews) Monahan of Conneaut Lake, Pa.; brothers, Daniel and his wife Cathy Monahan of Kannapolis, N.C., and Thomas and his wife Dawnene Monahan of Rockton, Pa. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Patrick Monahan; his parents, Mary and Daniel Monahan, Sr.; his wife's parents, Marion and James Matthews; and his brother-in-law, Mark Zickefoose.
He will be greatly missed by Chip and Terri Matthews of DuBois, Pa., David and Evangeline Matthews of Fort Myers, Fla., Lori and Homer Bloom of Conneaut Lake, Pa., Susan Zickefoose of Canon City, Colo., Lois Matthews of Charleston, S.C., Candy and David Clauson of Grove City, Pa., four nephews, five nieces, three great nephews, eight great nieces and his beloved pets Mary, Buster and Tinker Bell.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., DuBois.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. from the Episcopal Church of Our Savior with Fr. Zeke Coughlin officiating.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Memorials may be placed with the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
