I worked with Eva, too, at the Daily Journal. Also, attended high school with both of her sons. Tom graduated the same year I did. Eva was such a pleasant person to work with, she always had a smile.

When I was 8 years old, I experienced the first night of Hanukkah with Eva Salier, her husband, Max, and their two sons. As a little Catholic Italian girl, this was an amazing family ceremony, very holy, and very loving. I have not forgotten how warm and loving Eva was to my family. Her husband, Max, was an Industrial Arts Teacher, like my Dad. He taught at Oakcrest High School, and my Dad taught in Vineland. They met through educational studies, and I must say, the Salier's home was filled with knowledge. I was constantly learning in their presence. Of course, I loved it when they used to take me to see their sheep and chickens on their farm. How cool that was to me! Eva shared her wonderful world of Art with us, and also shared some of her stories of being an Holocaust Survivor. Even though I was young, she made an impression on me, and became a part of life. When she wrote her book, Survival of a Spirit, my mom and I purchased a few copies; I even gave one to my colleague. Just a few years ago, I tried reaching out to her, as I purchased another one of her books for Heather. I am glad that my husband, Howard, had the opportunity to meet Eva. I had always hoped that she could have met Lauren, our Artist, and Heather, but with her moving to California, that just never occurred.
Ironically, Eva leaves us, as historically, we reflect upon August 14-15, 1945 as the day WWII ended. May she rest in eternal peace and happiness. She has left us her Artistic beauty, her gracious smile, her historical facts and experiences as a Holocaust survivor, and a wealth of dedicated service to the Vineland community and the world.

Eva inspired me as a child to open up my artistic side. Art lessons at her home were a weekly highlight that I carry in my memories of Vineland. I extend my condolences to her family.

Eva was an inspiration to everyone she met. She raised you up just by being in her presence. Her wit and charm and no nonsense way of dealing with people made you know that her heart was filled with love for all. Theater and art were her passion and she inspired us all .
