Beverly, my beloved childhood friend from Dahliadel of New Jersey, loved dahlias, so here are a few more pictures that I took in the North Carolina mountains! My continued blessings to her daughters Valarie and Tracy!

This summer I found 3 more pictures of Beverly and me taken by my mother during our summer visits to Dahliadel. I still remember our frog and the tree house in these pictures very well. Beverly was a GOOD friend from these childhood days in New Jersey!

As a wedding gift to us 50 years ago, Beverly painted this watercolor on our wedding announcement and returned it to us where it is still posted on our wall!

This is a picture that Beverly painted for us of our beloved Dahliadel. This was the view from the back of the house showing the sandpile we used to play in when we were small children. The significance to me was that this was my first view when I arrived at Dahliadel from Florida in the summer. Then I looked for Grandma, Grandpa, and, of course, my friend Beverly!! Bob Rapalje

Dear Valerie and Tracy,
It's hard to believe a year has passed since the loss of your mother. We wanted to send you a couple more pictures from the 1950s, in particular a picture of Beverly and me on "our" bicycles. The truth is that I never had a bicycle in New Jersey--I always borrowed one from Beverly! It's worth noticing in this picture that she loaned me her NEWER, BIGGER bike! That's just the way she was!!
We hope you are both doing well! We think of you often!

My name is Bob Rapalje. I was Beverly's childhood friend who came up from Florida to visit my grandparents at Dahliadel during the summers. She was such a good friend to me, and because Beverly was there, Dahliadel was FUN, one of my favorite places to visit!
We used to fish and catch bullfrogs with pots and pans in Bear Creek across Landis Avenue. We used to pick up pots for Dahliadel for a nickel a crate (BIG money for children in those days!). Then, when we used to ride bikes and play tennis. In 1976 with the loss of my grandmother, I never returned to New Jersey. Regretfully, I was never able to meet her late husband or Valerie and Tracy.
We are so sorry to hear about your loss. We pray the Lord will comfort and keep you in this difficult time!!
Sincerely,
Bob and Martha
