LAKE WALES - Mr. Troy Cochran, age 63, passed away from cancer Thursday, January 10, 2008 at home in Lake Wales.
Born on September 19, 1944 in Bartow, he was the son of the late James Franklin and Eunice Weeks Cochran. Mr. Cochran retired as a Senior Engineering Tech. after 35 years of service with Progress Energy, formerly Florida Power. He was Baptist.
Mr. Cochran is also preceded in death by his daughter, Darla Renee Cochran, his brother James Brice "Sonny" Cochran, and his sister Norma Jean Bennett. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 21 years, Linda M. Cochran, two daughters: Shonda Fay Cochran Dimitri of Ocoee, Rhonda Gay Clements of Winter Haven, two stepsons: Nicholas Scott VanDenDriessche (Audrey Beth) of El Reno, OK, and William Keith VanDenDriessche (Melinda Lou) of Lake Wales. He also leaves behind three sisters: Marlene Gibson of Bartow, Jacqueline Marilyn Rowland of Lithia, Margaret Joy Harrison also of Bartow, and eight grandchildren: Augusta VanDenDriessche, Lauren Clements, Austin Clements, Justin Dimitri, Collan Dimitri, Ashlyn VanDenDriessche, Sophie VanDenDriessche, and Ruby VanDenDriessche.
Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street in Bartow, where family will receive friends from 4 PM to 6 PM Sat. Jan. 12, 2008. Services for Mr. Cochran will follow Sun. Jan. 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. Condolences may be made at www.whiddenmcleanfuneralhome.com

I've just heard about Troy's death, and I am so sorry. He was such a nice man and a joy to work with. He was truly on the top of the "most popular" list. We lost a great guy, and God gained a great angel. My love and prayers to you and the families.
