Richard Knobloch Obituary

Richard Knobloch

Oshkosh - Richard, age 67, of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 7, 2018. He was born September 5, 1950 in Oshkosh, son of Barbara Knobloch and Carl Knobloch. On April 5, 1975, he married Susan Basel of Oshkosh. Rich graduated from Lourdes in 1968 and obtained a BS in Secondary Education from UW-Oshkosh in 1972. He served in the Army National Guard during the 70s.

Rich taught at Lourdes for 40 years, teaching all levels of math, coached cross-country, was the 1st boys baseball coach, and later coached girls softball. He was affectionately known as Coach K and was well liked and respected by both his students and his colleagues. He continued to tutor in retirement throughout the Fox Valley.

Rich's love of rock & roll was fueled by the heavy drum beat of the Beatles & Dave Clark 5. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of drumming by taking lessons at the tender age of 58 - even participating in the year end recitals. He was in his glory meeting Ringo Starr not once but twice with backstage passes.

Rich had a strong competitive spirit and spent countless hours in dartball tournaments, on softball fields and around the kitchen table with a variety of board and card games. He passed his love of TV game shows on to his children and grandchildren.

Rich was always flexing his brain power with word & number puzzles and out of this world ancient alien theories & conspiracies. Along with his mother Barbara, they searched for the Sawdust Days Button - successfully finding 11 of them, ultimately taking over the reins as "Clue Master" for the last decade.

Rich is survived by his wife of 42 years Susan, Oshkosh; his mother Barbara, Oshkosh, father Carl (Colleen), Oshkosh, and brother Robert (Susan), Oshkosh; daughter Sara (Drew) Kirkman, Sun Prairie, son Steven (Alexandra) Knobloch, Germantown; grandchildren Liam & Aria Knobloch and Mason Kirkman, many nieces and nephews, and Ernie Kitten.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11 am at St. Jude Parish (St. Vincent Church on the corner of South Park and Oregon). Father Dan Schuster will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm with a 7 pm Prayer Service. Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday from 9 to 11 am.

In Lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to Lourdes Academy 110 N. Sawyer Street. Oshkosh, WI 54902

Sue, Sara, and Steve deepest condolences from Cary.our boys and myself. The 20 years I spent at Lourdes bring back many memories of Rick as a teacher, coach and friend. His love of teaching math was very evident from both Don and Chris. And his joy at the Softball field was something I had tremendous joy to watch as an Athletic Director. 40 years at Lourdes touches the lives of many young men and women and Coach K did just that. Unfortunately we are not able to join you today, but are thoughts and prayers are with you. Don Tolkacz

My very deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to the Family of Richard Knobloch. I didn't get to know Richard very well since I only attended Lourdes High School for two years, and finished my High School education at Oshkosh High School. What I remember most about Richard was that he was mild mannered and kind. May the love of God our Heavenly Father comfort Richard's Family in this difficult time. May Richard forever Rest In Peace, and may God's Perpetual Light forever shine upon him.

Our prayers go out to the Knoblach family. Richard taught our children math and totally connected. Not easy to do these days. He wore a smile every time we saw him and made each day better. We miss him so much. He told us how much he liked chocolate chip cookies so we made sure there were plenty on hand when he stopped by. He was a true gift and made a huge impact on out entire family. From the entire Rowe Family... we were blessed to have you in our lives.
