I was very saddened to hear about Roger's passing. He was a very kind man with a very good sense of humour. He will be truly missed.

My condolences to family and friends. Roger was a great spirit and friend, always ready with a smile and a handshake, and genuinely interested in the people in his world. Such a great example.

Why why why ( private joke between Elaine and Roger )
We rarely make friends on holiday but Roger would not take no for an answer and he was one of the best friends we have ever had.
So sad to have lost both Roger and Sandy in such a short time we would like to think they are now together again.
We have the fondest memories of them both from our seabourn cruises both full of life always joking and laughing.
We miss you both
Rest in peace
Our deepest sympathy to Ryan, Bryn, and all of the family.

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Roger both in Fort McMurray and Surrey, I am more fortunate to simply have known him. This brilliant, dedicated, driven man was filled with such kindness and compassion. And he made me laugh! Although I do not remember his exact words, he would often say that when you leave a place you want to leave it a little bit better than before you came. Roger, you have indeed left this world a better place. My sincere condolences to Olga, Nicole, Ryan and family.

Roger touched everybody who knew him. He was generous to a fault, always kind and with encouraging words. We went thru high school enjoying the adventures. We did our first road trip together. On and off thru the years we kept in touch. We shared an epic adventure in Alaska and the Yukon.
To Olga - your son was a very real and genuine friend. To Nicole and Ryan - I was so lucky to have the time we shared

Mrs. Bernatzki, Nicole, Ryan & Family:
We were so sorry to hear of Roger's passing. He sure knew how to make people laugh, we'll always remember when he came out of University & wanted Norm to get him a job as a VP with CPAIR, he didn't want to start at the bottom always the top of the ladder. Now he will be with Sandy again.
Many Hugs & Love to all of you.

Fred met Roger when his wife, Sandy, and I were teaching together in Calgary in 1967. We became close friends and stayed connected through most of our careers. Rogers was a dedicated family man, and a true professional in his career. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humour. He leaves a legacy through his work and his love for his family. Our prayers and love go out to Ryan and Nicole and their families - may happy memories help you get through this difficult time.

My condolences to the family of Roger Bernatzki. When Roger became the CEO of the Surrey Memorial Hospital in July 1985, I had just been appointed to the Board of Trustees. He went out of his way to teach me the role of a Board Member, and I had the pleasure of knowing him for the four years I remained on Board. Regards Patricia Millar

Like Jim, I met Roger when he arrived as President of Surrey Memorial Hospital in his larger than life 'Roger' style! Early in his tenure, he launched me into the world of senior leadership positions -- for which I am truly appreciative. Condolences Nicole and Ryan in the loss of your Dad.

I knew Roger for 10 years while at RCH. We had many lunches and exchanged views about the issues that we were both dealing with ..most probably about budgets! Roger, as most people will know, was a fun person to spend time with. It is regrettable that he passed away all too soon. My condolences to his family. Jim Fair (Sidney, BC)
