Mary Janet Hornseth
January 13, 1927 – November 26, 2017
It is with inconsolable sadness, the family of Mary Hornseth announce her death in the early hours of November 26, 2017. She died surrounded by love and passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord whom she served her entire life. Mom is survived by her daughters Shelley Malko and Leanne Hornseth and also one grandchild Kris, her sister Olive (Stan) Lomenda, sisters-in-law Eileen Tebbutt and Mavis Hornseth as well as numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. She is finally reunited with her husband Keith Hornseth who was tragically killed while they were on vacation in 1988. He was her best friend and she ached for him every day. Also predeceased by her parents Nettie (Janet) and Mac (Joseph) McEwen, brothers Mel and Bill and her sister Helen as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. Mom was born, raised and schooled in Regina and her early job was with the government in the motor license office. Mom and Dad met at Kedelston camp when they were just kids and had a long- distance relationship between Nipawin and Regina. They were married on December 9, 1950 and their first home was in Nipawin. They had a strong marriage that many said they fashioned their own marriages after. Mom and Dad were faithful followers of Christ and belonged to the Pentecostal and Apostolic churches in Prince Albert and Saskatoon for many years. Mom along with her dear friends Faye Rushby in Prince Albert and Barb Wilson in Saskatoon ran the social committee at the church and put together lots of delicious meals and tasty Koinonia's, Mom loved to bake and was amazing at it. She also loved knitting and word search which she was convinced would keep her sharp. She had a true Mothers heart and was devoted to my sister and I our entire lives. She was the one constant in our lives and we will miss her until our last breath. She was also a loving and devoted grandmother to her only grandchild Kris who was her world and right up until the last 2 weeks of her life was concerned that Kris get new shoes. A special thank you to our Norwegian sister Marit who came and helped me with mom when Shelley had surgery and I couldn't manage on my own. Shelley and I would like to thank everyone on the Senior's First team through Home Care. Thank you doesn't seem enough for the love and care you gave Mom. You are the reason that I was able to keep mom at home right to her last breath and for that we will always be so grateful. Our case managers Keira and Melinda, Dr. Atcha, Dr. Trish, all the Nurses (and not to discount anyone else but we have to give a special thank you to Darla) the care aides that treated mom with such love and respect and even when there was nothing that could be done for mom, you came for us just to let us know we weren't alone. God bless you all! Funeral Services will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home followed by a reception at the Edwards Family Centre. Condolences may be left for the family at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home 306-244-5577.

Dear Shelley and Leanne,
I have many fond memories of your Mom while working with your Dad at Norcanair. She was always dressed beautifully and had a smile on her face. Your parents love for each other was always evident. May you hold you special memories of both of them close in your hearts. Moms are such special people in our lives and it is never easy to lose them. You are in my thoughts and prayers, Sue Boryski (Bristowe)
