Cody Barrasse Obituary
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Linda Barrasse, as well as his brother, Joseph Jude Barrasse; and his grandmothers, Nancy Manning Barrasse and Grace Banno D'Andrea. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Joseph Anthony Barrasse and Joseph D'Andrea.
Cody was raised in Moosic, Pa., and graduated with high honors from Scranton Preparatory School in 2009. He was anticipating graduating with honors on May 5 from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in finance. He was on his way to law school in the fall of this year.
Although young, Cody was wise beyond his years, brutally honest and strong of both body and mind. His loyalty to his family and friends was beyond compare. Despite the many injuries that he sustained as an athlete, each time he continued on, never asking why, and continued to give 100% both on and off the playing field. He was a hero until his last breath. Today, eight others live on through Cody — as he donated eight organs to others. His loving heart now lives in a nine-year-old boy from Pittsburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at St. John Neumann Parish, the former Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton.
Calling hours will be at the church on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial gifts may be made to the Cody Barrasse Memorial Fund at Scranton Prep, the award will be presented to a graduating senior who quietly and courageously exemplifies a commitment to social justice, 1000 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care of the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.

Dear Judge Barrasse,
Cody was a very good friend of mine at Penn State. Met him in Econ class our sophomore year. Ever since we had class together, we would hang out on weekends and kick it. I was the one kid from philadelphia that knew all the scranton kids. I had too many good times with your son, for he had a heart of an angel and toughness of a rock. Loved playing sports with the kid. Had stone cold defense in basketball, Couldnt get by him. Loved having him over my fraternity, always had a smile on his face. I miss him deeply. Barrasse Family,
I went to Penn State with Joe and hung out with Cody on several occasions. Each time, we would sit there and talk about the days games and share a laugh. Although my experiences with Cody were minimal, he came across as a knowledgable, witty, and kind person. He shared all the same great qualities that made Joe such a good friend.
I want you to know that your entire family has been in my thoughts and prayers. It was very moving to see that a 9 year old boy in my hometown was given a miracle from Cody. Cody and your family's generosity is truly admirable. And I know in my heart that Cody's kind and generous soul is now with God. Please let me know if anyone in your family ever needs anything.
