Roderick Hohl Obituary

CHARLESTOWN -- On Tuesday, February 16, 2021, Roderick Lewis Hohl, Sr., loving father of four children, passed away at the age of 87.

Rod was born on August 18, 1933, to Lewis Virgil and Rosalie Wittenberg Hohl in New York City. He graduated Scarsdale High School and went on to receive his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and his masters in Journalism from Columbia University. He served in the US Army in Korea writing for the Stars and Stripes newspaper. He later married Ann Carol Batsford and had a daughter, Susan, and three sons: Craig, Scott and Roderick Jr. They raised the children in Somers, NY, where Rod Sr. immersed himself in the community. He taught Sunday school at the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Luke's church, and served as president of the Somers Dad's Club and as the AYSO regional commissioner. His warmth, positive spirit and inclusion were felt by all who knew him.

Later in life, he married Charlotte Brophy (née Duryea), and they lived happily for many years in Charlestown, RI, where he served on the board of the East Beach Association and formed many friendships. Rod is survived by his wife Charlotte, his four children and five grandchildren. Services will be live streamed on Monday, March 1 at 11am on the YouTube channel of St. James the Less, Scarsdale, NY.

I just found out today that Mr. Hohl passed away. He was a patient in our office for many years. He will be sadly missed as he was always so upbeat and had a great can do attitude. Our condolences to his wife, Charlotte and his family.

Rod was always a gentleman. A kind, intelligent person who I had the pleasure to know at Quonnie. He will be missed.
