Janice Atkins Obituary

Janice Lee Atkins left us November 2, 2014. She was born in La Mirada, CA on March 10, 1957. She is survived by her husband Grady Douglas Atkins of 36 years; as well as her children Jason Atkins, Jennifer Atkins, Marnie Atkins and Douglas Grady Atkins; brother Chuck Miller; sister Jodi Miller; grandchildren Greg Atkins, Tara Atkins, Braden and Brady Atkins, Autumn Fawn Atkins, Sha'way Rose Atkins, NaKayla Atkins, and Katy Atkins. My wife Janice took care of me all these years. We rebuilt an old house -- she did most of it while I was at work. She painted it by herself with a brush. She liked to help me split firewood; and she changed tires at drag races. She had a small garden with lots of flowers. She liked to go to garage sales; and she liked to stay home because everything she loved was at home. She liked to talk to her good friends Sharon Ward and Jean Patterson; and have coffee in the carport. I know she is in a better place now with no pain. I will miss you. I love you, Doug Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com and click on obits.

I am the oldest of four, Janice our middle sibling! When Janice was young, our neighbors would call her Cookie! Her face would light up! My fondest memory is when she got a round brush tangled up in my hair! It was BAD! We laughed till we cried! It was so tight to my scalp she couldn't cut the hair, let alone I would of been bald! Every time I would look in the mirror to see if she was making any progress, I saw her profuse sweating from nerves! I would start the laughing all over again! We ended up on the bedroom floor, laughing so hard our ribs hurt! Although, I am not recognized as the big sister, I have always loved Janice! An Angel came and said, "take my hand, we will soar to the Perfect Place! Endless flowers, so much Joy, no pain or sickness!" As they flew to the Pesrly Gates, Janice is smiling of the greatest joy! Rest in Peace Sister??

I am lucky to have Janice as my sister and my friend. Your huge heart and contagious laughed will never be forgotten. I will cherish our childhood memories and our more recent telephone calls. You took pride in being a good wife and mother. You always kept your sense of humor even during your most painful times. You taught me how really lucky I am. You never felt sorry for yourself. I admire your strength and will miss you. We shared a passion for our pets and we sure had many since we were small. We shared a love for vintage and Antiques and we were thrilled when we came across a good find at a garage sale or Goodwill. We will miss you and think of you everyday. Thank you for being a good Aunt to Blake. My heart hurts for Doug, Jennifer and Jason. Eureka wont be the same. I love you my sister. XO

Many great childhood memories of my cousin Janice. Her great sense of humor and laughter! My deepest sympathies to Doug, children and grandchildren. I'm sorry that we didn't keep close contact as adults. I planned to visit someday and wish I would have. Janice will always remain in memories and may the memories be a comfort to you. She was too young to leave this world and I know she will be missed by her family and friends. May God Bless You All! Peter & Laurie Fraire

Heidi and I are both greatly saddened by this loss to you and the family. It was always a fun time for us seeing you at the CLSA parties. You two built a beautiful home, and so many children and grand kids to carry on the family tree.

We laughed a lot at silly things; most of the time Douglas didn't know why which made it funnier. She had a big shoulder which I often used. RIP

To Doug,
I used to work with Janice before she retired. She was a kick and a heck of a good worker. I continued to run into her at swap meets or the dragstrip and chat a few minutes. My stepson lived around the corner from you and I used to see Janice out there painting your house with a brush. She did love "home". My sincere condolences on your loss.
