Robert Keller Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Keller, 80, of Dover died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, in Akron General Medical Center.
Born May 12, 1929, in Dover, he was a son of the late Alfred and Miriam Groh Keller. Bob graduated from Dover High School in 1947, and joined the United States Army. He made the Army a career, attending numerous military and civilian schools, and traveling the world over. He retired in 1971 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Bob was awarded the following medals: National Defense, Army Occupation (Germany), Good Conduct, Army Commendation (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Armed Forces Reserve (with Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service (Asia), Korea Defense Service (with Oak Leaf Cluster) and Meritorious Service.
He was a life member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both at Dover. A favorite past-time was gardening and working in his yard. Bob enjoyed being with his family, and was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was well-known and liked in the community, and will be missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gertrud Triebe “Judy� Keller, whom he married on June 4, 1955, in Mannheim, Germany; a daughter, Pamela M. (John) Dodd of Canton; a son, Robert A. Keller II of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, John Andrew and Kaitlyn Maria Dodd, and Natasha K., Robert A. III, and Robert Aaron Keller; a sister, Norma J. Cope; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn M. Curtis; two brothers-in-law, Wallace Curtis and Jack Cope.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Saturday, July 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. A private family service with military rites will be held in Dover Burial Park.
