William Tadsen Obituary

William H. Tadsen, age 81, and Arlene Tadsen, age 82, of Reading, Michigan, formerly of Toledo, died suddenly from injuries sustained in an auto accident July 29, 2005.
William was born in Holgate, Ohio on August 19, 1923, to John H. and Amelia (Baden) Tadsen. He graduated Valedictorian in 1941 from Holgate High School. He married Arlene Packard on April 9, 1944. He began working at the Dana Corporation Spicer Division in Toledo in the Time Study Department in 1943 after holding several divisional head positions, and was promoted to the Assistant Plant Manager position. He was later promoted to the Project Engineer position which involved national acquisition of property and international acquisition of machinery and equipment. He purchased property in Jonesboro, AR. He designed and headed the construction of the Dana Corporation Jonesboro Arkansas Plant. After the completion of construction, he headed the beginning of the operation. He retired from the Dana Corporation in 1981. After retirement, he enjoyed his family and investing in a family business. He headed O.C.I.T. Corporation which was a family operated investment company which funded Tadsen's Jewelers, TV Weekly and Americana Cash. Bill enjoyed coaching baseball for a number of years for Larchmont School. He was also a cub scout master at Augsburg Church.
Arlene was born in Holgate, Ohio on March 13, 1923, to Arthur and Ida (Knapp) Packard. She graduated from Holgate High School in 1941 and worked for the Armed Services during World War II. After her marriage to William in 1944, she raised three boys and was the foundation of a most loving family having many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arlene worked for the Toledo Board of Education for a number of years, after her boys were in high school.
The things that Bill and Arlene enjoyed the most were being around their family and many, many friends. Their pride and joy was their lakefront property in Hillsdale County. Bill bought this property in 1955 and he and his family cleared the lake lot and camped there for the first two years until the shell of the cottage was up which he constructed. This served as a cottage until Bill's retirement at which time it was turned into a year round home. It has been enjoyed by Bill and Arlene, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many, many friends throughout all of these years. This was the hub and the meeting place of the whole family. Since 1983, Bill and Arlene enjoyed spending their winters in Englewood, FL and spending the summer at their lakefront home in Hillsdale County. Bill and Arlene also enjoyed traveling the world with their many friends. Traveling all over the European Countries, England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. They also enjoyed golfing, boating, cards and visiting with their many friends. They were former members of Augsburg Lutheran Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Luther and Vernon and sisters, Lillian, Louise, Helen and Joyce. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marilyn "Tiny" Bowie. They are survived by their children, William (Karen), Thomas (Pamela), and Michael (Betsy); thirteen grandchildren, Tammra (Brian), Trisha, Jeannie (John), Thomas, S'iva, Marpa, Jaimi, Brett, Trevor, Amber, Tyler, Kyle, and Tristan; five great-grandchildren, Brittney, Brandon, Alec, Jacqueline and Trevor II; and Bill's brother, Don.
A joint memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St. on Friday, August 5, 2005, at 2:30 p.m.. The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
