GORMAN Betty Betty Gorman, vibrant and full of life, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, June 17, 2007, at the University of Toledo Medical Center Hospital. Betty was born in Marietta, Ohio December 20, 1935, to Eugene and Mary Louise (Burkhart) Britton. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, attended the University of Toledo earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Lourdes College. Through the years Betty generously volunteered her time to a number of different wonderful organizations including the Medical College of Ohio Auxiliary, the Toledo Zoo and the Toledo Museum of Art. She was active with C.A.S.A. more than 15 years and the Christ Child Guild. A member of the Toledo Country Club 30 years, she enjoyed gardening and played tennis regularly. She enjoyed her time at the Callawassie Island Club in So. Carolina where she and Jim spent the last 10 winters. Betty was an accomplished artist through the years focusing mainly on the mediums of watercolor and oil. She received Best of Show a number of times in various local art shows. She belonged to the Toledo Artist Club and Spectrum as well as the Beaufort, So. Carolina Art Society for the past 10 years. A loving and giving woman she was a wonderful wife, mom and especially enjoyed her 15 grandchildren. Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Dr. James F. Gorman and children, Kelley Gorman, Toledo, Kathleen (Mike) Rogers, Summit, NJ, Dr. Colleen (Mike) Koch, Cleveland, Shamus P. (Karen) Gorman, Chicago, IL and Mary (Mike) O'Neill, Greensboro, NC. The grandchildren are: Tessa, Emma, Andrew, Nicholas, Owen, Elsbeth and John-Paul Rogers; Catherine, Patrick and James Koch; Thomas, Anna and James Gorman; Matthew and Sarah O'Neill. She is also survived by her sisters, Chris Britton and Beverly (James) Johnson. There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 10 a.m. in Historic St. Patrick's Church, 130 Avondale Ave., in downtown Toledo. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may take the form of a contribution to The Christ Child Guild or Historic St. Patrick's Church. Arrangements by the Coyle Funeral Home.
