John Hahn Obituary

John Arthur "Art" Hahn, 84, of Hampton Township, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, in Aspinwall VAPHS No. 646, O'Hara Township. He was born June 3, 1925, in Pittsburgh, to the late Bernard F. and the late Caroline (Werheim) Hahn. Mr. Hahn was a jewelry polisher at Helm & Hahn located in Pittsburgh for more than 44 years until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Hahn was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher at the 7:30 p.m. Mass since 1952. He was an active member of the North Hampton Fire Company for 53 years and is the last surviving charter member. Mr. Hahn proudly served his country during World War II in the Marine Corps as a technical sergeant and participated in the Okinawa Campaign and the Third Fleet Operations against Japan. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, 3 Rivers Detachment No. 310 and was a dedicated member of the U.S. Marine Veterans Inc. Honor Guard Team. He is survived by his sons, Albert (Diane) Hahn, of Hampton Township, and David M. (Ginger) Hahn, of Ashville, N.C.; daughter, Maryann (Bernie) Janssen, of Lawrenceville; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Agnes Schickel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Rose Murphy Hahn, who died Oct. 17, 1997; and his brother, Junie Hahn. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park, PA 15101. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church, 2554 Wildwood Road, Wildwood, PA 15091. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Those wishing to attend the committal and honors services are asked to meet at the cemetery 15 minutes prior to the service.
