Richard Shaner Obituary

Richard H. Shaner, 78, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born March 17, 1932, in Apollo, a son of the late Harry and Margaret (Seifert) Shaner. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Beryl Chevrolet, Monroeville, and later as an auto mechanics instructor for the Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center, New Kensington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Robert Skelton and Rudy Austeri. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Austeri) Shaner; a son, Richard D. "Rick" Shaner and his wife, Linda, of North Huntingdon; a daughter, Donna Ventrice and her husband, Rocco, of New Stanton; three grandchildren, Christina Ventrice-Nickle, of Plum, Gregory Ventrice (Natalie), of New Stanton, and Danielle Knapik (Corey), of Hoschton, Ga.; a sister, Margaret Skelton, of Apollo; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jane Austeri, Teresa Austeri (Bob Heaps), John Austeri (Becky), Joseph Austeri (Pauline), and Tom Austeri (Nikki); and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert A. Free officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. www.bachafuneralhomeinc.com.
