Floyd Montgomery Obituary

Floyd Montgomery 1/25/1933~11/22/2006 Born in Casadero, CA, Floyd was drawn to the Air Force at an early age. After basic training and Band School, he went into aviation Cadet T33 Training at Web Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas and graduated in 1955. Floyd was married to Flora Huelster and had three children, Marsha, Brett, and Mark. He had a full and eventful military career flying dignitaries in D6's and Convair 340's. He lived abroad including Paris and Brussels and served in both Korea and Vietnam. Floyd retired from the military in 1975, and located in Tacoma, WA. It was then that he met his inspiration and longtime companion, Gertrude Hughes. He moved to the Bayview Condos in 1980. He spent the second half of his life working in real estate. His parents Lillian and George Montgomery, his beloved son Brett and his loving companion Gertrude preceded Floyd in death. Surviving Floyd are his daughter Marsha Vormestrand (Loren); son Mark (Betsy); daughter-in-law Kelly Montgomery; granddaughters Christy Mischel and Carla Voremestrand; his greatest pal grandson Jack Montgomery and his great-grandchildren Alexis and Jared Mischel. Floyd's life was complete with the renewed friendship of his first love from his basic training days, Margaret Baty, of Demopolis, AL. He and his family wanted to say a special "Thank You" to her for her dedicated and loving care throughout his illness. In honor of Floyd's request there will be no services. Remembrances may be made to the Fred Oldfield Western Heritage Center, PO Box 1539, Puyallup, WA 98371. Arrangements by Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Gig Harbor.
