VARMECKY – Louise, Johnstown, died Nov. 20, 2008, at the Lutheran Home of Johnstown. Daughter of Stephen and Mary (Kucera) Laco. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Frank Varmecky; and brothers, Stephen and Nicholas Laco. Survived by children, Valerie V., wife of William F. Deater, Westmont, and Regis Varmecky, Johnstown; granddaughters, Lisa Ann, wife of William R. Bruce III, Canonsburg, and Melanie Lynn, wife of Jason S. Moore, Johnstown; and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Victoria Moore. A sister of Helen Babik, Johnstown. Retired employee of the former Glosser Brother Department Store in the grocery department. Louise worked in St. Stephen cafeteria for all the years that her children attended school there. She also cooked for weddings and events at the First Catholic Slovak Band Hall. She was a former employee of Johnstown School District, worked for Mom’s House and was a foster grandparent for the Head Start Program. A member of Post 954 CWV Auxiliary, Sokol’s, Jednota, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, St. Stephen Mother’s Club and choir, also St. Stephen Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Father Andrew Stanko. Committal, Grandview Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday.

Dear Val and Regis...
So very sorry to read about your Mom's passing...I had stopped by to see her this past summer in the Lutheran home...Was great to see her.
Please know you are in my prayers during this very sad time...Your Mom was a great lady...I'll always remember family times...
