Betty Silla (Stuhler) passed away on March 12, 2022 at the age of 92. Betty is survived by her son Paul and daughters in law Jan (Herron) and Lorene (Shaw). Betty is grandmother and guiding light to Daniel and Katie Silla, Michael and Ashley Silla, Kim and Nate Slany and Lauren Silla. Betty is honorary grandmother and personal cheerleader to Greg, Joe and David Nelson, while being honorary mother to Karen and Randy. Betty is great grandmother to Mia and Max; Anthony, Gianna and Franco; and newly arrived Rylan who grandma was thrilled to get to know before her passing. Betty was predeceased by her husband Ben, her son Bob, sisters in law Helen and Viola and her siblings Martin, Hermine, Fred, Aggie and Emma. Betty married her high school sweetheart Ben in July of 1954, and gave birth to Bob and Paul. Mom raised Bob and I in the Ne? Road neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio while Dad taught school at their Alma Mater Collinwood High School and Mom worked in the elementary school library that Bob and I attended. Those early days were filled with afternoons at the lake, mornings climbing trees and sunsets playing kick the can with neighbor kids. Mom was either participating or close enough at hand to referee or bandage as events required and used her soft touch toward all those mothering demands. Our teenage years found us in Lyndhurst, Ohio attending Brush High School where Bob excelled in football and track while I preferred wrestling. Mom could always be found cheering, healing and encouraging regardless of our pursuits. In her quiet, yet resolute way mom's evenhanded approach to victories and failures alike gave Bob and I the freedom to pursue our individual loves in life. Much to everyone's surprise Dad purchased a small cottage on Marblehead, Ohio which was to become the place that defined our parents retirement years. Hosting family, friends and neighbors this small cottage became the gathering place of their families and now their children's families and is the true resting place of our parents memory. Mom will be forever found sitting on the dock watching the sun set above that endless horizon. Mom loved. Mom loved family and loved life. Mom took great comfort in providing for all who came into her life while asking little in return. Quiet, gentle and forever concerned for others well being, mom was the binding light that held our world together. We provided for mom for a short time, but in no way were our e?orts equal to the indelible folds mom tucked into each of our hearts. Her living is greatly appreciated and her presence will be sorely missed. Betty Silla will be remembered at Fioritto Funeral Home, 5236 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst (East of Richmond Road) on Saturday, March 26th, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with a brief service at 12:30 PM. There will be a procession immediately afterwards to All Souls Cemetery where Betty will be laid alongside her husband Ben. All are invited to attend an after ceremony luncheon at The Welshfield Inn, 14001 Main Market Road, Burton, Ohio 44021.

Paul, so sorry for your loss. Nothing in the world like losing your Mama. What a beautiful tribute you wrote. I didn't know her but your words made her come alive. Praying that the memories that bring tears today eventually bring smiles. Hugs. Deb DiLillo Betz
