Catherine Cerwinsky Obituary

Catherine B."Irene" Cerwinsky, age 66, of Canton, passed away early Sunday morning in Aultman Hospital following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born August 5, 1944 in Scotland, daughter to the late David and Catherine (Bryceland) Duffy. She was a member of First Christian Church and the founder of Ohio Friends of Greyhounds Rescue and Adoptions. She had been the owner of Kitten Fashions in Minerva and worked at various stores in the area including in the office of Ethel Wilson Fashions. Catherine had been a volunteer with the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities and a member of the National MS Society. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her step-brother, Andrew Duffy and mother-in-law, Berchyie Ealy. Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Fredrick R. Cerwinsky of the home; sons, Fred (Kerri) Cerwinsky of Minerva, Kurt Cerwinsky also of Minerva; daughter, Heather (Nick) Kalagidis of Canton; four grandchildren, Zeke Rhiel, Erica and Nicholas Kalagidis, Bryceland Cerwinsky; brother, David Duffy of Isle of Wight, England and two nieces, Denise Brown and Jeanette Deannes both of the UK. Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:30a.m in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Msgr.Lewis Gaetano officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 6-8p.m. in the funeral home.
