BROCKTON----Edith N. (Dunnington) Payne, 98, a resident of Brockton for the past 88 years died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Payne. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on August 29, 1915, a daughter of the late Herbert E. and Mildred A. (Byrne) Dunnington, she was raised in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School. A devoted wife and mother, she was blessed with the opportunity to have traveled the world visiting various continents. She enjoyed gardening and planting. Edith is survived by her children, Nancy Anmahian of NH., Sally Payne of Easton, and Stephen Payne of Brockton; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Charles Dunnington and George Dunnington. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton, followed by a graveside service at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
