Published by Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2013.
Kathy Sue Lindwurm was born on July 27, 1963 in Gregory, SD to John and Hildegard (Moor) Lindwurm. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlock, SD. She attended 13 years of school in Burke, SD, graduating high school in 1981. At the age of 20 years her mother passed away. Kathy became the cook and housekeeper for her dad and brothers. In 1983 her kidneys began to fail and she was on dialysis until Thanksgiving Day of 1986. Kathy received the call for a kidney transplant. She received the transplant in Minneapolis, MN that same year, giving her 25 years more. Kathy loved her nieces and nephew and enjoyed their daily visits. She loved the country life. She loved to bake, sew, fish, and read especially reading the newspaper, and loved watching TV. Kathy must have made hundreds of chocolate chip cookies. She looked forward to going to church on Sundays. Kathy never complained of her problems or hardships she went through. In November 2011, Kathy and her father moved into Gregory. They both enjoyed the town life. Kathy loved her house in town and the company that stopped over. On April 9, 2013, her health started to fail again and she was hospitalized in Sioux Falls, SD. After a lengthy stay in Sioux Falls she entered the Avera Rosebud Country Care Center in June of 2013. On September 30, 2013 Kathy was admitted to the Avera Gregory Healthcare Center where she passed away of complications with kidney failure on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the age of 50. She is survived by her father John Lindwurm of Burke, SD, her three brothers Dean and wife Esther Lindwurm of Burke, SD, and Neal and Glen Lindwurm of Gregory, SD.
