Kurt Edward Heythaler was born in Detroit, Michigan at St. John Hospital on January 2, 1955 the son of William and Sally Heythaler. Kurt passed away on August 23, 2017 at St. John Hospital with his family at his side. Kurt married Michele Curle in 1978 and together they raised two sons, Edward and Ryan. Kurt was employed with Fiat-Chrysler for twenty-four years as a metal model maker. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was meticulous in the care of the landscaping around his home, taking great pride in cutting, trimming and pruning. His sons described him as a man’s man. Kurt is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Michele, his dear sons Edward and Ryan and loving mother Sally. He is also survived by his siblings Sandy Arrazola (the late Rami), Daniel (Joey), James, Joseph (Sandi), and Margaret Zobl (Rick). Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He is predeceased by his father William and brother Peter (Julie) Heythaler. Visitation for Kurt will take place on Friday from 2 until 9 pm, with a rosary 7:00 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Kurt will lie in state on Saturday from 11:30 am until time of Mass 12:00 noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack. St. Clair Shores. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
