West Chatham, MA – Mario J. Trombi, 89, died peacefully at his home on May 7, 2019 surrounded by loved ones.  Mario was born in West Boylston, the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Pandolphi) Trombi who were originally from Italy.  He was schooled in West Bolyston and thereafter was in the United States Army, serving in Korea for two years, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal.  Throughout his career, Mario worked for many companies. He had an unquenchable desire for fishing and soon earned the reputation as being a great fisherman.  He then moved to West Chatham, bought a boat, and began fishing as a full-time job, which he never retired from and all his buddy fisherman knew his boat "MARJO'.  When it came to competitive fishing you could count on Mario. Mario was also active in the VFW (both here in Chatham and in Boylston) and is a member to this day; He enjoyed spending time there with his friends. He also loved gardening and playing cards and was always doing a home project. He is survived by his wife Della; his son, Joseph Trombi and his wife, Bridgette of Milford; his loving grandchildren who were the light of his life, Grandson Michael Trombi and his wife, Angelica of Ontario, CA, Granddaughter, Danielle and her husband, Ben Cole of Mount Juliet, TN; Granddaughter, Angela Bauver and her husband, Jon. His Step Children, who cherished him, Lee, Darlene & Laureen Swazey of Connecticut; His special nephew, Billy & Ann Marie Trombi of East Harwich;three Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margie Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11am, Friday, May 10th at Morris, Blute & O'Connor Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich. Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 11th at Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston. Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston is assisting the family with arrangements.
