MaryAnn (Hoff) Mathany was born December 25, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey to George Arthur and Margaret Mary (Kilmurray) Hoff. Her siblings included Joseph George, born 12/23/1928; Florence Marie, born 9/15/1930; Elizabeth Jane, born in 1932; and Patricia Ann, born 3/11/1943. She attended Our Lady of Peace and Saint Mary's Catholic schools in South Amboy, New Jersey. She passed away on March 29, 2014 at Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab in Ottumwa, Iowa with family at her side. Mary Ann moved from English Town, New Jersey to the Mount Ayr area in 1976. On January 28, 1978 Mary Ann was united in marriage to R. Deane Mathany. To their union was born son Eric. In 1984 they moved to Lafeyette, Colorado and later separated. Eric and her returned to Mount Ayr in 1988. Mary Ann was active in the American Legion Auxillary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mount Ayr, were she served in Altar and Rosary Society. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. Mary Ann moved to Hedrick in 2010 to be closer to her son, Eric and his family. She enjoyed being closer to her family spending time with grandson's Eric Jr. and Donovan and shopping with her daughter in-law Amanda. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Margaret Hoff; three sisters, Elizabeth Hoff in infancy, Florence (James) Bishop and Pat (Thomas) Janas; brother, Joseph Hoff; nephew David Hoff; niece Patricia (Hoff) Fleming. Mary Ann is survived by her son, Eric (Amanda) Mathany of Ottumwa; grandsons Eric Jr. and Donovan; sister in-law, Pat Hoff; five nephews, Joseph (Karen) Hoff Jr., Peter Hoff, George Hoff III, Bernard Janas and Todd Janas; two nieces, Margaret (Bob Crandall) Thomas, Kathy (Terry) Hemseth and friend Jenine Vice.
