Chris and I remember Merle as a big, strong, tough man, who could be kind and tender when that was called for. He could muscle the big, old 18 wheelers before they became powered and comfortable, he could handle his English Motorcycles, and he could walk his tiny poodles on their leashes, speaking like a loving father, when it was necessary to restrain them. I always enjoyed the chats we had when he walked his beloved pets. Those days are gone now and his voice is stilled, but fond memories will keep Merle forever in the hearts of his family, friends and neighbors.
