OBITUARY: Sr. Jean Streibig Sister Jean Streibig, formerly known as Sister Marie Imogene, age 79, died peacefully at McAuley Convent in Merion, PA on October 28, 2017 surrounded by her family, closest friends and community members. Sister Jean is survived by her sister, Dolores Di Giacomo and her brother, Charles Streibig, her nieces and nephews, a grand-niece and grand-nephews and a great-grandniece. Sister Jean was raised in Philadelphia by Charles Francis Striebig and Alice Genevieve Kroouze. She attended Holy Family Elementary School and Little Flower High School. After high school, she entered the Sisters of Mercy, December 8, 1955. Sr. Jean's history of Ministry included many successful years in Elementary and Secondary education. She taught middle grades in Mater Misericordia Academy, St. John Baptist de La Salle in Shillington PA and St. Paul in Allentown. Her high school career spanned from 1962 to 2003 at Little Flower High School, Philadelphia, PA, Merion Mercy Academy, Merion PA, Archbishop Prendergast High School, Drexel Hill PA and Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, Gwynedd Valley, PA. From 2003-2011, she assumed the role of Administrative Assistant at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. She was loved and much appreciated by students and faculty alike and kept in touch with many over the years. She was always known to be kind, generous of spirit, with a compelling presence toward each person she met. When she left her career in Education, she moved to The Convent of Mercy, Merion PA and worked as Support Staff. She was always willing to give of herself in any way needed serving her sisters with compassion, kindness and a merciful spirit. Among her many beautiful qualities were her very welcoming smile, her gentle kindness, her deep sense of presence to others, and her profound prayerfulness and trust in God. In her final years, Sister Jean was called to witness to God's faithful love in her acceptance of declining health. She suffered daily, yet remained centered in gratitude for all God had given her and always maintained a sense of trust that God would take care of her. Let us thank God for her life and prayer for her eternal rest in the arms of our loving God. Relatives and friends are invited to a Viewing, Thursday, November 2, 2017, 6 pm, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 pm in the Chapel at the Convent of Mercy, 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion Station, PA 19066. This is late but I could not fail to express my sadness over the death of this truly inspiration women. She was my math teacher for two years at Little Flower H. S. Over and above this I considered her a mentor and a friend. My two best friends visited her at the convent she so loved. We also went to reatreats there and we're invited to some events. She was an inspiration to me and her example helped me throughout my life. We were just speaking about her a few months ago. I really loved Sister Jean. She was a beautiful person.

Sister Jean taught me math at Archbishop Prendergast HIght School. I am a 1982 graduate. Her love and passion for math as well as her patience and intellgence left a strong imprint on me. I know that the foundation of skills that she helped me to build had a positive impact on my future. I was able to face the challenges of math at my undergraduate program at Drexel and my graduate programs at the London School of Economics and Boston College. I know that she rests in peace in God's arms. I hope that you are comforted at this time of loss.

Sister Jean taught me math at Archbishop Prendergast. I am a 1982 graduate. Her patience, confidence and passion for math left a lasting impression on me. I know that the challenges of underdgraduate studies at Drexel University and graduate courses at the London School of Economics and Boston College were assisted by the strong foundation which she helped me build. I know that she is at peace with God. May you be comforted by knowing her impact on her students.

To Sister Jean's Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I graduated APHS in 1980 and had Sister Jean as a teacher. She was always smiling and always had something nice to say to the class. I have fond memories of Sister Jean and will remember you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult. May she Rest In Peace with the Lord.
