Since I was a sophomore in High School, I have always admired, Mary's mom.
When my family moved to the Hayes township, is when I met Mary in High School.
Bill, went all 12 grades of school with Mary, so he at the time knew Mary and her family a lot longer than I did.
Throughout our high school years, Mary, had a couple parties, at her house on the farm. I can remember several of Mary's friends being there, and of coarse her mom and Dad. Her mom is the one that made all the good food we ate at those parties.
I spent the night at Mary's a few times, we would sit in the kitchen, at the table, visiting with Wilma, I can still see her coming out of her pantry, with some cookies, or goodies she kept in there, Wilma loved to have a guest, and was always
very warm and friendly.
When I was a senior, my family moved to Omaha. Mary, and I still kept in touch,
when I could, I would go back and visit with Mary, and her parents on the farm.
After graduating, and Marrying Bill. Bill and I would stop by the Taylor Farm. I remember on day after Christmas, we stopped by to see Mary and her parents,
They had received some Champagne for a gift. Mary, gave us some to toast in the New Year.
The last time we saw Wilma, Bill and I went to her apartment in Storm Lake, she was as hospitable as ever.
Bill and I have remained best friends with Mary, all these years. Her mom always made you feel comfortable, and treated you as any MOM would.
Your mom is one special Lady, Mary, Donna, & Shirley. May your hearts be filled by the wonderful memories of your mom & Grandma .

It was such a privilege having Mom live near my husband and me in Ankeny for six years following Dad's death. We made so many memories through our daily visits, phone calls, working together, helping others, meeting my friends, church, family gatherings, and so many other activities. I will always picture her standing in the door waving as I drove away after every visit. I miss her so much in so many ways but I will do my best to honor her and continue to keep her close in my heart.

What a marvelous, wonderful, Wonder Woman! I was always amazed by the fact that Wilma, at the age of 102, still lived independently, was serving meals to the elderly at her Church, couldn't receive a hand written happy day note without immediately writing you back, and always had a smile and a positive can do attitude. I will always be grateful to Wilma and Frank for giving me the greatest gift of alla forever best friend, Shirley Laird. My thoughts are with you and your entire family.
Love to you all, Cheryl.

Wilma was a remarkable woman. She was full of love and joy for family and life.
Thank you Shirley for introducing me to your Mom and inviting me to share road trips to visit her.
She made me feel welcome and special. I always came away feeling joy, admiration and a little wiser.
Tom and I marveled at the notes that she sent us over the years.
They were thoughtful, sincere and written with perfect penmanship.
We kept each and every note and every once in a while take them out and read them again. We are amazed at how wonderful they are and how good her words make us feel.
Our friend Wilma will be missed but remain in our hearts.
With Love and Sympathy,
Cathy and Tom McCoy

Wilma was a close friend of my mother Helen Langner who passed away last May. A little over two years ago I was able to bring mother, also a Storm Lake native, to Ankeny to visit Wilma after she had moved to Ankeny. I sat in her apartment and witnessed seeing the great pleasure they had talking with each other. My mother was an avid reader as was Wilma. Wilma and my mother had corresponded via "snail mail" and mother was always impressed with Wilma's penmanship! My mothers ability to write was diminished due to a couple light strokes. My condolences to the family members remembering her life.

It was a very truly amazing experience meeting Wilma in Ankeny at Mary's house. I have a really fun time talking to her and watching the workers fix Mary's exterior deck. Next day I got her blueberry muffins, she told me thank you so much.
We had a very small conversations but I could tell how bright and loving woman she was. Thank God for giving me the opportunity to visit with her and be part
of some of her last days. My deepest sympathy to all her family. She is for sure in the best place to be.

We were so fortunate to have mom's guidance and wisdom for so long. She always took care of others and ready to help. We will miss her but her spirit and memory will continue. Her work here is done! I'll love you always!

Wilma was easily the sweetest and most caring person that I've ever met. So fun to be around and always kind to me. She will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
