I worked with Betty at Hughes for six years, and in that time we became dear friends. When my mother died, Betty did special little motherly things for me and helped me through my period of grief. And after I left Hughes, we continued to talk on the phone and meet frequently for lunch. I miss her very much, all these years (13) after her death. Rest in peace, dear Betty.

In my book Betty was a "Classy Lady". Whenever I visited my daughter in Tucson Betty would always make time for me -- lunch, visiting interesting places, and time chatting & catching up on our lives. I will miss all that but know she is enjoying the presence of the Lord free of any ailments.
I was truly blessed by her friendship.

Ed, Susan, Morgan, & Brian - My initiation into the Professional Secretaries Association was held at Betty's house in 1961, and she has been a dear and special friend ever since. Her gallant fight against cancer is an inspiration to us all. God has another angel with a beautific smile. Hildegard Steinbach

Betty was always a joy to work with during our thirty one years of serving the Hughes FCU together. Just her presence at HFCU functions provided a calming and pleasent atmosphere. She loved photography and became the official documentor of the life and times of the HFCU thru pictures. I will greatly miss Betty, her friendship and support.

Betty meant a great deal to our family. She worked at Hughes with my father and introduced him to our mother. It's a wonderful family story. Betty came to all of our family parties and took photos that we cherish to this day. Betty touched the lives of our family from the day she met my dad in the 50's. We are so blessed to have known her.

Betty was a gracious lady. Her positive attitude and outlook on life gave people hope. Her cards and letters to me along with our lunches at our favorite spot will be missed greatly. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. I will certainly miss her

Betty was one of the nicest individuals I have ever known. I knew her from my early days at Hughes in the 60's, 70's and 80's. She always had something nice and positive to say when you met with her.

Betty Smedley was a gracious and gentle person who is well remembered for so many qualities by her friends and co-workers that it is difficult to enumerate them all. We will miss her and pray for her immortal soul. She exemplifies having been a fine and complete human being.
