Edith Jenks Obituary

LYME -- Edith (Record) Jenks, 76, died March 10, 2009.

She was born in Hanover on Sept. 19, 1932, to Donald Record and Ada (Olsen) Record.

Mrs. Jenks was a longtime resident of Lyme, where she was a member of the 4-H, The Morning Star Grange, Lyme School Board and Lyme Center Ladies' Aid.

She was a real "old school" farm girl who treasured family and celebrating holiday traditions. She had many talents that she expanded on over the years. One of her greater loves was working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an extraordinary cook and was always trying new recipes. She was well known for her cake decorating and was called on to provide cakes for many occasions.

An avid collector of dolls and Santa Clauses, Mrs. Jenks created many crafty crafts as well as ceramics, painting, quilting, sewing, Santa Claus and doll making.

Edith found time to work outside her home in the ticket booth at the Dartmouth Skiway, where for more than 25 years she saw generations of children learn to ski.

"Edi" was predeceased by son Edward Lee Jenks and by her husband of 55 years, Edward "Hoot" Jenks.

Family includes children E. Donald, Michael, Christopher, David, Melanie (Jenks) Bacon and Kathleen Jenks; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: At her request, there are no funeral services. A celebration of her life will be at a later date.

I was sorry to read of Edith's passing. Years ago I used to ride with her to school in Hanover and remember her with fondness. So too do I remember the Jenks "boys", one of whom became her husband.
My condolences to the remaining members of her family.

I'm real sorry to hear about Mrs. Jenks as her Son, Eddie and nephew, Jimmy Jenks were class mates of mine at Hanover High.
My thought are with you.
