WALKER _ Kenneth, loving husband and family man died on Monday, August 21, 2006 at Lions Gate Hospital from a stroke. He was born in Wakefield England, October 9, 1924 and came to Canada as an infant. He was predeceased by his loving son Paul Arthur Walker in 1993 at age 30 and by his parents Herbert and Mabel Walker. Ken had his schooling at Queen Mary and Lord Bing High School, and then joined the RCNVR on 3 December 1942 at "Discovery". He served on the ship HMCS Grou as a signalman on the Atlantic run (Escort Group 11). On his return in 1946 he took his Grade 12 at Seaview on Broadway and afterwards he worked for the Government at the Postal Branch and later for Customs & Excise until his retirement in 1980 at age 56. He was active in the Seaforth Highlanders Militia retiring with the rank of M.W.O. Ken was an active member of the Seaforth Association until his death. His fondest memory was his trip with his wife to the 60th Anniversary celebrations at Juno Beach, June 4th, 2004. Ken was honoured to be the Naval escort to the Queen and Prince Phillip. He loved going to the cabin at Stump Lake with the family, hunting, fishing and riding the ATV's. He leaves his beloved family; Bernice his wife of 56 years; daughter Carole, son-in-law Mike Kelly, grandson Josh; son Marke, daughter-in-law Robyn, grandsons Morgan and James; son Tim, daughter-in-law Cindy, grandson David and granddaughter Brittany; brother-in-law Ken Sherlock (Linda); sister Mary Lashbrook; nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives in England. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th at First Memorial Funeral Service Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver. Reception to follow. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Association, the Seaforth Highlanders Museum or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. "Remember if my ship sails from your sight, it doesn't mean the journey ends, only that the river bends."

Our deepest sympathy goes to Bernie and her family. Jane and I loved Ken very much. He was a kind, warm and loving man with a great sense of humour. We will miss him.
