Karen Hamilton Obituary

Karen L. Hamilton, 57, passed away after a valiant struggle with cancer at home in Ventura on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 with her parents by her side.

She was born on January 2, 1955 in Ventura and had been a resident for most of her life. She went to local schools, graduating from Buena High School in 1973 and went to Ventura College, graduating in 1976 with an associate's degree in psychology. She also attended U.C. Santa Barbara for a short while before employment at Southern Pacific Milling Co. advancing to the position of computer analyst.

After 17 with Southern Pacific Milling she accepted a position with Riverside Cement Co. and moved to Diamond Bar. While working there she developed several integrated systems and made major accomplishments in this field. Three years later she opened her own computer consulting firm and continued to follow this technology to the very end. She received excellent care from the doctors and staff at the Ventura County Medical Center Palliative Care Group and from the Roze Room Hospice. She made new friends and continually thanked them for their help and care. She was a former member of the Grace Baptist Church and often said she felt like she grew up there.

Karen is survived by her parents, Bill and Mildred Hamilton; aunt, Virginia Gambil of Jonesboro, AR; dearly loved cousin, Norma Lee Brice of Pine, AZ and numerous other cousins and extended family.

There will be a funeral service 10 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr., Ventura, CA. 642-8134. Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton,
I was saddened to hear from family in Ventura of your dear daughter Karen's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Karen was a great friend throughout High School. My best memories of those years include her. We were in the same Camp Fire/Horizon Club Group and spent time camping and hiking, traveling, making a mess cooking or crafting, eating, and laughing, always laughing, together. Karen was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor and fun, and a warm heart. I am a better person today because of Karen's example.

I look forward with hope to the day we will see her again in Heaven--completely well, always warm and welcoming us home.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton, I am so sorry to hear of Karen's passing. I am so glad that this past year I was able to catch up with her and remember all the good times that we had. Her in her orange pinto and me in my blue vega. And then we graduated.... Karen got her blue Camaro and I got my white Firebird. We had the best times. Karen, Carey and I always seemed to be together. I can remember some of the times that Mildred, Karen and I got a little crazy at the house. We won't tell the consequences of all the jokes we used to tell. We would just laugh for hours. I am just thankful for the time we spent together. Never will I find such a friend as my Karen Lynn. God Bless You Karen. Linda

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton. Please accept my condolences in Karen's death. Karen and I along with Linda Abbey we all close friends for Choralaires days at Ventura First Bap. Through the years we lost contact although I reconnected with her briefly a year ago and we talked on the phone. I have lived in Europe for 30 years and have tried to connect with her recently but our calendars never connected. She was a dear friend in the past which I had hoped to reconnect with. I will miss her greatly and remember all the fun and antics of our earlier years - Carey

Like the words of an often sung hymn say, "When we all get to Heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus we'll sing and shout the victory..." Karen is shouting the victory, cancer may have claimed her body here on earth, but our loving savior Jesus has already won the victory and is there comforting and caring for Her now. God bless........love David Gasaway

Bill and Mildred, you don't know me but I went to school with Karen. It's been many years since we last saw each other but I remember her as a very kind and genuine human being. I'm so sorry to read of her passing but I want you to know I'll hold you and the rest of your family in prayer.

Dear Hamilton Family,
My heart and prayers go out to you at this time of loss of your wonderful daughter.
I went to El Camino Emementary as well as Anacapa Junior High and Buena High School with Karen . She was always so very kind and thoughtful of those around her. I can remember many days after school at El Camino when we would go to her house and listen to music or put on our little plays and complete projects for class.
May you find confort at this time in knowing that she touched to many lives at a very young age.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.
