16 years have gone by, and I still remember today as if it were just yesterday.
I will never forget you.

I served with Lui during OIf 5. I don't know why you have been on my mind lately but came across this and wanted to share with your loved ones. I was just a commo guy but was attached to HHC 1-30. When I first arrived to Ft. Stewart, they made us go on a 6 mile ruck march....something I definitely wasn't ready for. I remember Lui sticking with me, encouraging me along the way. He helped me adjust my rucksack and gave me tips on how to get through it. He definitely didnt have to do that. I wasn't even Infantry and he could have easily left me like the rest....but he didn't. While in Iraq, shortly before the incident, I had the privilege of recording videos of soldiers to send home to their loved ones for Christmas. Lui told me specifically he wanted to do 2 recordings. One in English and then one in his Native Language. After the incident, I gave that DVD to our chain of command and told them that his family needed this. I pray that got to you. Your Dad, Husband, Son, and Friend was a Great Man and it was pleasure to know him.

Been almost 6 years Lui, gone but never forgotten. Memories is all that I have, our great time together my dear friend. Soft spoken, kind, and most loveable friend anyone can ask for. I miss our ascc days. You loved your job at EMS, I was there when you left to assist with the fires in the states back in 2000. Distance separated us for years but we never lost touch even when you started a new family of your own, and I as well. Our memories is whats keeping me sane. Sometimes I wished you hadn't chose to go active duty. But, its the sacrifice you took so we can all continue to be free. Hope they are treating you well up in Heaven. It's been a long 4 years for everyone who knew you, whether related or a friend you've made along the way. Everyday I think about those times we spent together- the laughs the disagreements the talks. Now I'm left with "I shouldve" "I could've" "I would've" moments that I will regret for the rest of my being. I should've continued our relationship instead of ending it when I had to go off island to seek medical treatment. I could've encouraged you to stay home and keep taking care of your parents (you always said that you would never leave them) after I heard that you were going on active duty. I would've loved to be the mother of your kids but we were both young and striving to become the best we can be for your families. I miss you Lui. Everyday, and I will always will. I will never forget you. :(
