Trevor Carpenter Obituary

Trevor Scott Carpenter

Santa Maria, CA

TREVOR SCOTT CARPENTER of Santa Maria, CA. lost his four year battle with leukemia on June 14, 2017. His strength and resilience in his fight was awe-inspiring.

Trevor was born November 17, 1975 to Dennis and Shirley Carpenter of Camarillo, CA.

Growing up in Camarillo, he was active in church, scouting, sports, and snow skiing, achieving both his Black Belt in TaeKwonDo and the highest rank of scouting, Eagle Scout.

Trevor graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in 1994 before going on to Azusa Pacific University and The Master's College. Trevor's faith led him to work in the ministry for a few years but ultimately followed in his father's footsteps of law enforcement. He began working in the jail with the Ventura County Sheriff Department before transferring to Santa Barbara County Sheriff Department in 2003.

Trevor was passionate about many things but some of his top ten were God, family, photography, the Dodgers, craft beer, and lively discussions about anything. Trevor was the founder of Firearms Friends, an online safe place of discussion and interaction about firearms. He was also the founder of PhotoChallenge.org. Photography enthusiasts could accept the weekly challenge of posting a photo following that weeks guidelines. Trevor had participants from around the world.

Trevor leaves behind wife Deanna Carpenter, 4 children, Sarah, Thomas, Elijah, and Samuel all of Santa Maria, CA. Parents Dennis and Shirley Carpenter of Camarillo, CA. Sister and brother-in-law Megan and Ryan Hamlin also of Camarillo, CA. Grandparents Orvene and Georgia Carpenter of Port Hueneme, CA and Novella Thomas of McLeod, TX. Mother and Father-in-law Deborah and Andrew Evans of Shingle Springs, CA. Father and Mother-in-law David and Robin Smith of West Linn, OR. Brother-in-law Danny Smith of Shingle Springs, CA. Sisters-in-law Heather and Colleen Evans of Shingle Springs, CA and Kelsey Smith of West Linn, OR. Also left behind were multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Trevor lived life without reservation and made an impact on everyone he met. He had a love for God and a faith that could move mountains.

Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 3:00 PM. Camarillo Community Church, 1322 Las Posas Road, Camarillo, CA. 93010.

Remember when we were little kids in Lockwood Valley? We used to get in trouble all the time. From playing in that big black mountain of tar/pothole/ whatever it was. Then there was the time we decided to paint the treehouse on your side with cans of spray paint we found in the utility room next to the bunkhouse. We had a lot of fun back then. So many fun things, too much to mention.
You will always be here, just a thought away. I'm hope you are at peace now and no more pain or any other issues.
You were a good man Trevor, I'm sure God is happy to have you there with him. Love ya man!

Dearest Deanna, Sarah, Tom, Eli and Sammy: We love you with all our hearts and are so blessed to have loved and called your dad - Son - for almost 20 years. The time Grammy and I spent with all of you at your house, our house, the beach, hunting, fishing, the cabin and more are priceless and precious. Grammy had the most time with your dad and all of you, making sure there was never more than weeks betwen getting together. I wish I had more time with him but the times I did are so important to me and I will never forget them. We are honored to be your Grandparents and not only love your mom and each one of you but respect you and see in each of you, your dad's passion for God, and our family. We love your dad and will always seek to honor him for his heart that remains in the center of our family. We love you Trevor. Rest in peace. Love, Papa and Grammy

I'm at a loss for words. Growing up with you was fun, especially in Lockwood Valley. Boy could we find trouble playing in the mountain of tar. finding the spray paint and decorating our tree house. Jumping off the chicken coop. Fun times. Woth the memories, wish God hasn't called you home just yet. Now you are the guardian angel for your children. Miss you man.
