Amy Ayers Obituary

Amy Elizabeth Ayers

Camarillo, CA

Amy Elizabeth Ayers, 88, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 18, 2018 in Camarillo, CA. Amy was born on May 10, 1930 in Red Bank, NJ to parents, Loyal William and Anna J. Myatt.

After growing up in New Jersey, Amy married Raymond Ayers and they relocated to Southern California, living first in Oxnard, and then moving to Camarillo in 1966.

Amy was a homemaker and was very active in the lives of her children and her community. For many years she volunteered in various PTA's and for Pleasant Valley Boys Baseball, taught Sunday School at United Methodist Church, mentored youth as a 4H leader and helped with the reading program at Camarillo Heights School. In 1995, Amy and her husband, Ray were honored by the Pleasant Valley Historical Society as Don and Dona for their commitment to the City of Camarillo.

Amy also helped operate Ray's Art Gallery, The Hanging Tree. On Saturday mornings, she could be found at the Farmer's Market right alongside Ray, chatting with friends and strangers alike.

Her devotion to the Los Angeles Dodgers was second only to her family. Amy's family meant everything to her and she never missed a school function, sporting event or birthday party. In 2015, the families of Willden Drive, where Ray and Amy lived for 50 years, held a reunion in Amy's front yard. She was thrilled to have all her "kids" together again.

Amy was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Raymond Ayers; children, Dale, Jeffrey and Joni Ayers; brother, Bill Myatt; and son-in-law, Scott Mauck.

She is survived by her children, Debi Mauck, David Ayers and Dawn Robinson (Troy); grandchildren, Ryan Mauck (Leora), Rhett Mauck (Shannon), Travis Mauck, Nathan Ayers (Andrea), Amy Jane Ayers (Jeremy Mason), Russell Ayers, Kaitlyn Robinson and Kole Robinson; great grandchildren, Ryder Mauck, Delaney Mauck, Jax Mason and Rowan Mason; siblings, Phyllis Darragh and Richard Myatt (Mary Lou); as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

There will be a Celebration of Amy's life on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of the Islands at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any gifts in Amy's memory be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by calling 800-822-6344, using memorial ID #11345935.
