Zachary Cohen passed away on January 27th surrounded by his family. Zak was born in Brooklyn, New York to Irving and Ann Cohen. He served twelve years in the U.S. Navy and earned multiple Air Medals in Viet Nam. After his service, he moved to Los Angeles and graduated from Cal State, Northridge with a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology. While in graduate school, he met and married Cindy (Simpson) Cohen, the love of his life. He was an engineer for Pacific Bell and a Senior Consultant with Ernst & Young. Zak founded Briarwood Associates in 1985 and ran the business until his retirement in 2009.

Zak was deeply involved with the Conejo Valley Amateur Radio Club as a member, officer, and president. He held his ham radio license for over 60 years with the call sign N6PK. He was also a Life Senior Member and a regional officer in the IEEE, a Life Member of the American Radio Relay League and an Emergency Coordinator with the Ventura County Area 2 Auxiliary Communications Service.

Zak was kind and endlessly optimistic. He loved thoughtful conversation and gave unwavering support and encouragement to his family, friends, and community. Though we will miss him, his legacy remains with us in the values, humor, and compassion that brightened the lives of those he left behind.

Cindy Cohen, his wife of 36 years predeceased Zak. He is survived by his daughter Sarah (Cohen) Silva, sons Aaron and Sam Cohen, daughter-in-law Cathy, and grandchildren Sabrina (Avi), Alisa, Oliver (Emery), and Charlie.

Funeral services will be held graveside at Conejo Mountain Memorial Cemetery on Sunday February 8th at 11:00 a.m.
