Elizabeth (Betty) Ellen Laird, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 16, 2018 in Ventura, California.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Skillin Carroll Mortuary in Santa Paula, CA. There will be a reception immediately following.

Elizabeth was born August 17, 1922, in Fillmore, California. She married Jesse O. Laird on January 14, 1939. They were married for 65 years and had two children, Richard (Dick) and Darlene. Elizabeth and Jesse owned Laird's Meat Market in Fillmore, California, where she worked by his side for 32 years. She was a talented seamstress and gardener and enjoyed canning the fruits and vegetables that they grew. She was very generous with her time and talents and many people enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Jesse passed away in December 2003, and a few years later she moved to the Townehouse in Ventura. There she enjoyed visiting with friends and family, playing games, and creating beautiful artwork. Throughout her life she was active in her church, serving others and the Lord. Her greatest gift to her family was passing on her faith in Jesus as her savior in heaven where she now resides for eternity with Him!

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband along with her brothers, Art Beem, Arley (Bus) Beem (wife June), Don Beem (wife Lois) and step great-grandchild, Michael Leinbach. She is survived by her son, Richard (Dick) Laird (wife Colleen) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Darlene Munoz (husband Anthony) of Ventura, CA; grandchildren Sheri Vincent (husband Bruce) and family of Carpinteria, CA and Lori Archer (husband Logan) and family of Thousand Oaks, CA; two step grandchildren Cherokee Leinbach (husband Kevin) and family of Colorado Springs, CO and Jeffery Mauer (wife Tammy) and family of Malone, NY; four great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, but she was "Nannie" to many more.
